Nickelback brought the party to Nationwide Arena Friday night with some help from hard rock’s Taylor Momsen fronted The Pretty Reckless, tearing up the stage with all of their hits, a few new tracks, equally awesome guitar solos.
New York natives, Taylor Momsen (lead vocals), Ben Phillips (guitar, vocals), Mark Damon (bass) and Jamie Perkins (drums) just released their sophomore album early last year, called Going To Hell. They are currently the only female – fronted band to top the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart with their first two hits (“Fucked Up World” and “Heaven Knows” both reached # 1).The Pretty Reckless hit the stage at 8:00 and kicked the night off with their current hit, “Follow Me Down” before moving on to older tracks “Since You’re Gone” and “Miss Nothing” and launching into newer songs from “House On Hill”, which was played live for the first time when TPR last played Columbus at the Newport Music Hall to “Heaven Knows” and “Fucked Up World”.
Alberta, Canada natives, Nickelback is comprised of Chad Kroeger (vocals, guitar), Mike Kroeger (bass), Ryan Peake (backing vocals, guitar) and Daniel Adair (drums). They just released their eighth studio album, No Fixed Address and are currently on the first leg of their massive, 60 city North American tour with The Pretty Reckless (with Lifehouse set to open on the second leg of the tour.)
There is most likely no other band that has faced as much criticism and hate since the British Invasion as Nickelback, who proved everyone wrong Friday night. They hit the stage at 9:00 for a 2 hour set full of all the hits (“Rockstar”, “Animals”, “Something In Your Mouth”, “Photograph”, etc.), covers (“Master of Puppets”, “Moby Dick”, “Hotel California”, “Walk”, “Everlong”) and a few new tracks off of No Fixed Address ( the funky “She Keeps Me Up”, “Million Miles an Hour” and the empowering “Edge Of A Revolution”). Chad kept the crowd engaged and up on their feet all night long, talking to them throughout the set about the Buckeyes, singing Happy Birthday to the president of the Blue Jackets and even throwing beer into the audience. If you haven’t seen Nickelback yet, check them out this tour. They put on a killer show and you wont be disappointed.
